  • 1) The Natural Look

When I photograph people (privately) I prefer that they don’t know I am photographing them. This makes for much more natural photographs.

  • 2) The Perfect Moment

Here, Ruby is watching the ‘outside world’ while lost in her ‘inside thoughts’ but truly enjoying our Mother’s Day dinner treat. The red pepper mill is adding a warm hue to the photo, giving it a more intimate feel as well as framing the model.

  • 3) Watch the light

See how the light from the window is falling on Ruby’s face while the background is dark? This makes her the focus in the photo, while the dark background hints to our cosy environment.

  • 4) Add to Your Memory

We started our day in O’Mahony’s, our favourite book store, where Ruby treated me toLouise Hay’s book ‘Heart Thoughts’ I love this book & I wanted to remember my excitement of the day when she gave me this lovely gift, so I put it in the photo.

  • 5) Remember Where You Where

You won’t always have a window logo so prominent as in this photo, so look for their logo on menus or napkins and sneak it in to your photos. Remember you are catching a memory. In a year or two from now do you always remember where you where? Ruby & I loved our Millano’s Mothers Day dinner treat, we will definitely be back soon.
