Network with Joy
“The Woman Business Network (#TWBnetworking) gives me a greater sense of belonging, as a business woman, in Limerick “
I don’t remember how I happened to get myself invited to Gaye Moore’s open day, a few years ago, but as soon as I was in the room I knew I had come home. Being part of TWB is like oxygen to me & I want to share it with every woman entrepreneur in Limerick, so . . . . . . . here is your invitation to our next open day. It will be a Fabulous Look the Biz event.
There is “Business Card Confetti Networks” & there is building personal relationships & making the most of the people you meet to your mutual joy. This might sounds weird, but it’s exactly what you get from TWB; a group of friends who care about you and your business, whether you are struggling, celebrating or happily motoring along.
Going to a networking event might take you out of your comfort zone, but it is so worth it so Give it a GO! Because you never know who you will meet & where it will lead.
At the next TWB open day, I will step right outside my comfort zone when I take to the catwalk for the very first time. Will this be launching a modelling career for me or will it just be a morning of fun? Why don’t you join us and find out?
Do networking sound scary to you? Well, the first networking events I went to, I didn’t like, mostly because I didn’t feel I had anything to contribute & I just felt like a “wallflower”. Basically, I thought networking meant promoting my business (I was working for someone else at the time) and generate sales leads. At TWB the reality is, thankfully very different.
It’s about choosing the people you want to have around you, who you want to help and who will help you enjoy & grow your business. That’s why it’s so important to meet regularly – Just to talk to somebody, to open the real conversations & then to start having fun.
Networking only really become meaningful when you hook up again and you start to know people on a personal level. I think this is why Gaye do her “business card dips,” to make it easy for two women to meet one-2-one for a coffee. My first “business card dip” was with the amazing Elaine Sparing form Hummingbird, who have since thought me & Ruby so much. She is also modelling with me.
If you are still wondering whether to join us – here are a few tips & tricks to make networking easier
1) If you feel nervous about going, message the person who invited you and ask her to introduce you to at least ONE other person who you haven’t meet before
2) Set yourself a time limit and a target, say you’ll stay for 20 minute and talk to 2 people. If you enjoy it, stay, if not you will have made a success out of it
3) Compliment & Ask questions : “I was just admiring your . . . {handbag}”. We all love compliments so it is the perfect icebreaker. “Is this your first time here?” will have you on your way to a good chat
4) Bring a bunch of pens, or if there are drinks being served, pick up two glasses. That way, if you are in a conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable, you can easily get away by saying; “Oh, will you excuse me, I just have to give this to my friend over there”
Here is a sneaky-peak at what I will be wearing on the catwalk – from the beautiful autumn & winter collection at Pamela Scott & put together for me by the Fabulous Sharon Tucker’s Style Secrets.
Here she is with another wonderful TWB lady, Jacinta Khan – Queen B at The George Boutique Hotel, she’s also strutting her stuff on the catwalk for The TWB Autumn Networking Event
I feel so childishly excited . . .{lol} . .
Enjoy – Vig x
